Allison Kaufman is a photo and video artist living in NYC. She received her BFA in Film and Television Production from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (2000) and her MFA in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts (2008). Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States at the Aqua Miami and Affordable Art Fairs, Hendershot Gallery, Moore College of Art and Design, and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Kaufman is currently a fellow at the Center for Emerging Visual Artists and was recently a resident artist at Yaddo. Her work has been reviewed in a variety of publications. She is currently an adjunct professor at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

Amy Guidry (b. 1976, Jacksonville, NC) is an artist residing in Lafayette, Louisiana. She received her BA from Loyola University New Orleans in 1998. She was awarded the Loyola University Art Scholarship, which is only awarded to one student per graduating class.

Guidry has exhibited in galleries and museums nationwide, including the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Brandeis University, and the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Her work is present in collections including the Alexandria Museum of Art, the Zigler Art Museum, the Schepis Museum, and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Guidry’s paintings have been featured in publications such as American Artist Magazine and Adbusters. Her work has also been featured on MTV’s Real World, Season 20: Hollywood.

Andrea Lantz is based in Richmond, Virginia where she pursues art as a means to rebalance the right side of her brain after long days of left brained labor in the corporate world.

She primarily enjoys painting and photography, with occasional detours into sculpture. Andrea studied watercolor painting with Shelly Bechtel-Shepherd and has exhibited in group shows in the Richmond area. She uses photography as a creative outlet while on business trips where painting is impractical.

Andrea’s prior forays into public art include a fish sculpture in Richmond, Virginia ’s “Go Fish” public art exhibition in 2001 and four dinosaur sculptures in Wilmington, Delaware ’s “Downtown Dino Days” in 2002 and 2003. One of her dinosaurs is in the collection of the Delaware History Museum.

In the mid 1990's, after exhibiting at Lancaster City Museum, I was invited to join the group of artists who brought the Storey Gallery, Lancaster back into regular use. I subsequently became Chair of this artist group and pushed through the transition from voluntary group to Limited Company with charitable status. The gallery has recently completed a major refurbishment and has become a central part of the Storey Creative Industries Centre.

I have had a number of images published. My work is included in the Habitat.co.uk and Dwell.co.uk canvas art collection. In 2007 I started to incorporate digital processes into my art. These have now become an important part of my creative process.

As a mature student I have qualified up to degree level in ICT and regularly undertake new ICT and Digital Art related courses. I also have a long standing interest in the internet. I regularly sell my work around the world via the Internet. My work has been featured on most of the well known art websites.

I got my bachelors degree in Fine Art from DeMontfort University, Leicester, UK, and and my MA in Sculpture from the Winchester School of Art, Southampton University, in Winchester, UK. After graduating from my masters I returned to Greece and joined the experimental theater group Fractals, which helped shifting my practice towards performance and interactive installations. At the same time, I started teaching art at the foundation and vocational school level. After teaching for three years I got the Greek State Scholarship for studies abroad and decided to pursue an MFA in Fine Arts and Technology at the New York Institute of Technology. Edwards, 32, is a New Orleans-based photographer and educator; she was raised in California ’s Inland Empire, her parents were high school sweethearts in San Bernardino ’s Pacific High School. She was an award-winning, primary music photographer for the alt-weekly Austin Chronicle from 2004-2008; her present client list includes the United Nations, Magnolia Pictures, Playboy, SPIN, XXL and Comedy Central. She is the founder of the Veterans Photo Project, providing therapeutic photo workshops to homeless veterans in Brooklyn and New Orleans. Her collaborative exhibition, Where They At: New Orleans Bounce and Hip Hop in Words and Pictures, opened at the Smithsonian-affiliated Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and is travelling internationally. She recently completed an artist residency in Singapore documenting the country's transgendered community.

Brian Nogues was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He received his BFA in Digital Media, with a minor in Art History, from the University of Florida in 2008. In 2010, he was awarded his MFA in visual arts from Clemson University in South Carolina. Oil painting artist Carol Hallock lives in a home on stilts on Bayou Lacombe in Louisiana. She often paints the surrounding bayou and marsh from her kayak. "Geraldine," the egret, is often a favorite subject.

She has received many awards in recognition of her work, including magazine covers and features and numerous newspaper articles. Acclaimed for her use of expressions and color, Carol has gained widespread respect for her evocative regional, nautical, swamp and tropical scenes. Connie J. Frisch-Cherniak is from Virginia, Minnesota and lives in Staten Island, New York. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studied at NYU, and received an M.F.A. in Painting, Drawing and Photography from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, in 1983. She is an Adjunct Professor of Art at St. John’s University in Staten Island and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Online. Connie was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She received an MFA in Printmaking from Ohio University in 2005 and a BA in Painting from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1996. She also has attended two study abroad programs, in Italy and in England, and has since traveled to Mexico and Ireland.

Since receiving her MFA, she has taught courses in Drawing, Computer Art, and Printmaking at Bloomsburg University, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Ohio University, Anchor Graphics/Columbia College, North Park University, Carthage College and The Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg. D. Lammie-Hanson is a self-taught artist who was born and raised in Harlem, New York. She draws her inspiration from figures in the Stations of the Cross in Catholic church and the stories they told. Now her inspiration is derived from the spiritual and emotional side of womanhood and her culture. She relies on cool hues of blues and earthy siennas to convey our correlation to the flow of water and stability of the earth.

Dede Lusk’s love of photography began early. As a child in the small Louisiana town of Clinton, she took her precious Brownie box camera everywhere, snapping pictures and taking the film to her grandfather’s drugstore to be developed.

After graduating from Louisiana State University, working, and raising a family, she began to pursue her interest in photography seriously. In 1999, she attended the first of many photography workshops, studying with noted teachers of fine art photography and learning to master the art of capturing and printing images in black and white. She has been creatively inspired by the landscape images of Michael Kenna and David Fokos, and by the still lifes of Edward Weston and Paul Caponigro.

Happy Accidents is a collaborative effort comprised of two artists - Kara Hendershot and Summer Scharringhausen. It all began with an eight-foot piece of plywood, spray paint, and an image inspired by David Lynch. The goal was to create a painting for Altered Esthetics Gallery's "Tales From the Black Lodge" exhibit, held in October of 2008.

The original painting titled “Penelope” is an ongoing project, a large mixed media painting consisting of giant doll characters amidst an ever-changing background. The painting is constantly changing, as Happy Accidents happily re-creates the story within the artwork by continuously painting over the previous scene. Happy Accidents has set a goal to fit “Penelope” into as many Altered Esthetics theme shows as possible.

The collaboration, Happy Accidents, is all about liberation, spontaneity, and pure fun.

Harriete Estel Berman uses post-consumer, recycled materials to construct artwork ranging from jewelry and teacups to entire lawns and works of social commentary. Sculptures include domestic appliances remarking on the roles of women and the influence of advertising in our consumer society.

Berman’s work has been shown throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa. Heather D. Freeman is Assistant Professor of Digital Media at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte where she teaches digital print, animation, video, installation and drawing. She grew in Skillman, New Jersey and was heavily influenced by her parents’ careers in the sciences. She holds a BA in Fine Art and German Studies from Oberlin College and an MFA in Studio Art from Rutgers University. Painting was a frequent joy as a child growing up in Wales, and I dreamed of becoming a skyscapist. In 1995, I came to Southern California, and the vastness of the spaces rekindled that childhood love affair with the skies.

In 2001, I had an opportunity to work on photography skills. Five months later, I was having difficulty getting my mind off one particular photograph I had taken. I had an epiphany: “Now, you have to paint!” The sky remains the major influence in my work.

Born in 1977 in Topeka, KS, Jill Ensley lived in Los Angeles, CA and Racine, WI before returning to finish her Fine Arts degree at the University of Kansas in 2008. Having previously visited New Orleans at the ripe old ages of sixteen and seventeen, she returned to volunteer in 2007 and 2008. It was after that she realized where her heart and soul wanted to be. She moved to New Orleans in 2008 and found employment with a music-based non-profit, where she is currently the Artistic Director. Ms. Ensley works on her own artwork whenever possible, travels whenever she can, and plans to return to get her Master's in 2012...if the world doesn't end.

Observation of nature formed both Levy’s outlook on life and style of painting. This focused his attention to the patterns and movements found in nature, from the repetitive formula of a flower, to the chaotic rhythm of the ocean. As a child, he was deeply intrigued by the marbling patterns found within stone. Now, through his art, he copies them. “The elements found within nature are undeniably attractive. June Bisantz received her Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting from Claremont Graduate University in California, and has lived and worked in Boston, Los Angeles and New York City. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums nationally, and she has received grants and commissions to support her public projects, which include art on billboards, buses, movie theater screens, architectural surfaces, street signs and traffic control devices.

Kara Hendershot was born in Toronto, Canada and currently resides in St. Paul, MN. She is very active in the Twin Cities arts community - both through the production and exhibition of her work throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as in the promotion and support of other local artists and organizations.

Working primarily in mixed media painting, her work explores the relationships between individuals and their surroundings. She depicts the connections that people have to their environment while simultaneously examining the contradictory moments that occur when those connections become faint and uncertain, lending a sense of detachment from one’s realm.

Hello! My name is Kiyomi and I have been an exhibiting artist since the 1990s. Over the years, I developed an ability to create spontaneously and experiment with unconventional techniques.

I choreograph a dance between transparent vs. opaque layers, traditional and non-traditional materials, and fine art supplies with electronics.

My current body of work incorporates printmaking, hand-marbled paper and water-based paint on acrylic plastic. The back layer is video or lights. I created these because I want the viewer to EXPERIENCE the piece; to …get lost in it. Kwadwo Adae (pronounced K'way-Joe Uh-dye) exhibits his non-objective oil paintings widely in the Northeast, and has work in private collections in CA, CO, NY, MD, CT, RI, MA, NY, PA, NJ, and DE. He is the Founder, Director, and Head Instructor of the Adae Fine Art Academy, a private institution in New Haven, CT, committed to providing arts instruction in drawing and painting to children, teens, and adults, including special needs classes for students afflicted with schizophrenia, and offsite instruction for the elderly in assisted living centers. Kwadwo just completed a residency at the Vermont Studio Center after receiving a full fellowship award in May 2011. In my current series, Kwadrilaterals, every oil painting is born from the pain and suffering of living with sickle-cell anemia. Since early childhood my primary coping skill for dealing with my illness has been to create paintings. My life expectancy is short so my paintings, like me, are blunt, vibrant, and full of life. I strive to create work devoid of any reference to the objective world as a means of escapism. The paintings are visual manifestations of my personal and psychological shields. They are fortifications meant to distract most people from ever getting to know my heavily scarred and tortured inner self. They are meant to engage the viewer in ways that I personally cannot. They are meant to portray, solely in a language of color and form, the multiple sides of my personality. All of the hospital rooms where my suffering occurs have been white, sterile, and colorless places. Thus, physically adding strong colors to white surfaces has always been an aspect of painting I have found completely cathartic. My psychological association with white has manifested a strong addiction to color in my work, clothing, and daily life. They are all executed on square canvases, a shape that brings connotations of order, consistency, and stability which are missing aspects of my personal life.

Lana Gramlich, an award-winning, internationally-collected artist and photographer, was born Friday the 13th in the Bermuda Triangle and sold on the black market. Raised on the Gold Coast of Long Island, NY, she moved to the New Orleans area in 2003. Her works have appeared in various formats; from coloring books to public spaces to TV. Growing up I struggled with the stereotypes and prescribed roles that we are given; I turned to photography as a means to challenge these demands. My interests lie in the influence that time and consequence possess in our lives. In 2007 I moved to Boston to study at Massachusetts College of Art. Living in an urban environment with a distance from the place I was raised, allowed me to realize how much the photographic tradition of the South has influenced me. After graduating I traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland. Upon returning to the States, I felt the urge to also return to the south. Lorraine McDonnell graduated from the Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork in June 2005 with a B.A Hons in Fine Art.

In July 2009, in search of a new studio and new opportunities McDonnell co-founded ‘Basement Project Space’ on Camden Quay with two other Cork based artists. McDonnell is currently an active board member involved in the organisation and programming of events at Basement Project Space and also continues to work from her studio there. McDonnell mainly uses the medium of painting and drawing, taking inspiration from graffiti, street art and contemporary illustration. More recently she has been experimenting with animation and digital painting.

My paintings are images of what I study and continue to live through. Melissa Haviland and David Colagiovanni are artists who live and collaborate in Athens, Ohio. Haviland’s artwork straddles the boundaries between printmaking and installation-performance exploring lineage, ritual, and practice within objects that are gendered and classed, like fine china. Colagiovanni is a video and sound artist who is currently the Artist in Residence at the Morehead Planetarium. The included images are from their recent collaboration titled “Dinner Music”--a video and music composition that will be release in 2012.

Trained as an architect, Michael Pecirno is interested in the effects design and art can have on societies, places, objects, and ideas. His projects often range in both scale and typology, but always focus on the intersection of art and architecture.

Michael received his B.S. Architecture at the University of Illinois at Chicago and currently works as designer at an international interdisciplinary design studio. When not working, Michael runs the art collaborative, TAKEBACKCHICAGO, an organization interested in connecting art and urban stewardship.

Michele Guieu was born in southern France, lived her teenage years in Senegal (Africa), travelled and moved quite a lot. She is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (MA Graphic Design and Multimedia), Paris, France.

She was a graphic designer for many years when she lived in Paris, where she worked for non-profit organizations and museums. She also exhibited her work in Paris and Copenhagen, before moving to the US in 2000. She is a San Diego Art Prize 2009 nominee in the Emerging Artists Category. Guieu recently had a solo exhibition at Art Produce Gallery and participated in shows at the California Center for the Arts, the Oceanside Museum of Art and the William Cannon Art Gallery. She was invited to the "Summer Salon Series" at the San Diego Museum of Art during the summer of 2010.

Natasha Bacca is an artist and instructor based in Oregon. Her work explores light, combining contemporary and archaic processes to push the bounds of conventional photography. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is featured in private, public, and corporate collections. In 2010, Natasha was selected as the Jubelale artist for Deschutes Brewery. Oregon Public Broadcasting featured Natasha’s process and art works on the Emmy award winning television series Oregon Art Beat. A US patent has been granted for the process by which Natasha creates her art. Working in complete darkness, Natasha creates images using beams of light with tools she makes. Manipulating the color and the intensity of the light onto photo sensitive paper, she literally paints with light.

Paula Billups is a visual artist working in the United States for brick and mortar work and across the globe in pixels. This year's work has taken her to residencies in Siena, Italy and Berlin, Germany. She exhibited most recently at Gallery 195 in New Haven, CT. A classically trained figurative painter, Paula enjoys exploring ways to hack the visual grammar of the image to arrest the eye and let the surreal serve as a gate to some tranquility. Ms. Billups studied at the Lyme Academy in Old Lyme, Connecticut, the Grand Central Academy in New York, and the Transart Institute in Berlin. She enjoys teaching and most recently taught at juvenile correction units for the state of Connecticut.

PlantBot Genetics co-founders Wendy DesChene (Canada) and Jeff Schmuki (United States) began practicing as an artist team in 2009. Their first team award was an artist residency at the American Academy in Rome. They have since created projects in Iceland, New York, Connecticut, and Florida. Their latest work together called “Monsantra” has been displayed at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA, the Goethe Institute in Cairo, Egypt, and 6 other countries. While collaborating with the department of Engineering at Auburn University, they also created a community project at the Jules Collins Museum of Art. Rob Carter uses photography, stop-motion animation, and time-lapse video to spotlight architecture and its shifting historical and cultural significance. A few years after completing his BFA at Oxford University, he relocated to New York to attend Hunter College ’s MFA program. Since then he has exhibited work in numerous locations worldwide including solo exhibitions in Madrid, Chicago and Rome. 2010 saw him exhibit his work at the ICA in Philadelphia, Ramis Barquet and Bruce Silverstein Gallery in New York and the Shanghai World Expo; additionally he received a NYFA Fellowship and took part in residencies in Austria and Spain. In 2011 he will show work at ebersmoore, Chicago, 1000 EVENTI, Milan, and Festival NARRACJE in Gdansk, Poland. He is currently working towards a ‘New Commission’ installation at Art in General, opening in New York in April 2012.

In 1993 I graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design. I started my career in the Printing Industry, as a print shop manager and sign maker. Then came the responsibilities of raising a family, and I set my artistic endeavors aside. For 15 years my paint brushes, camera, and other supplies laid dormant. I did not appreciate the gifts I had and lacked the life experience needed to have something meaningful to communicate through art. In 2008 the doors to my art were re-opened, allowing me to once again pursue my artistic endeavors in the fullness of what I believe God intended. Have you ever stared at a cloud and saw shapes and images in them? The images I have created have many layers, and upon further reflection the viewer can see ?hidden images? that were originally unnoticeable. The approach I take with my artwork is very distinct, in that I incorporate numerous photographs into a very unique composition. Utilizing anywhere from six to two dozen images, I try to present the essence of staring at clouds within my own artwork. If you look at the shadow shapes and highlights within the image, other objects will start to take focus.

Born in Sydney, Australia in 1953, Shirley A. Peters studied art at the National Art School in East Sydney. Shirley began as a fine artist, but soon gravitated to graphic design and children's book illustration during the 80's and 90s. She operated as a freelancer for many years, enabling her to continue fine art part time. In 2008 Peters returned to full-time painting and printmaking, and has shown in numerous group shows and two solos. Stacey-Robin H. Johnson is a self-taught mixed-media artist, living and creating in New York City. A native of Harlem, Johnson's work illuminates the mundane and the mystical aspects of life.

Growing up in New York City, afforded Johnson opportunities to experience various art forms such as writing and singing. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in contemporary media from S.U.N.Y. Empire State College in 2002, after studying communication arts at Marymount Manhattan College.
